The National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators (NAUPA) is a non-profit organization affiliated with the National Association of State Treasurers and the Council of State Governments. The mission of NAUPA is to promote and support excellence and professionalism among those individuals charged with the responsibilities of unclaimed property administration and compliance. Members represent all states, the District of Columbia, and other international governmental entities. NAUPA provides a forum for continuing discussions regarding interstate cooperation, education, training, uniform laws, reporting requirements and increasing the public's awareness of the role the states play in protecting and returning property to rightful owners.

MissingMoney.com, a national database, was established in November 1999 by the National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators (NAUPA). MissingMoney.com enables owners to perform comprehensive searches for lost assets required by law to be turned over to the states.

ACS Unclaimed Property Clearinghouse is the largest reporter of unclaimed property in the United States. Since 1984, ACS Unclaimed Property Clearinghouse has provided comprehensive unclaimed property reporting and support services to over 12,000 organizations.

7   Link   NCUA - The National Credit Union Administration - Unclaimed Deposits
When a credit union with federal insurance is liquidated, NCUA's Asset Management and Assistance Center (AMAC) is responsible for paying the share accounts to the members. Invariably, some items may remain unclaimed. Some checks are never cashed; or the credit union's address information was incomplete. There are also cases when there are no recent or forwarding address for the account holder.
8   Link   PBGC - Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation - Unclaimed Pensions
When a company's pension plan is transferred to PBGC, the company is some times unable to locate persons who participated in that plan and is hence unable to give them any benefits they may be owed. PBGC is now continuing to look for them through the "Missing Participants" service.

Each year, 25,000 payments are returned to the Department of the Treasury as undeliverable. Billions of dollars in savings bonds have stopped earning interest, but haven’t been cashed. Database is updated monthly.
10   Link   US VA - Veteran Affairs - Unclaimed Insurance Funds
Unclaimed insurance funds are owed to certain current and former policyholders or their beneficiaries. The money is owed to individuals whom the VA has been unable to locate in order to make payment.

12   Link   FDIC - Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation - Unclaimed Money
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) provides deposit insurance to financial institutions and depositors of these institutions. If a financial institution is closed, by a regulatory agency, the FDIC is appointed as Receiver and is responsible for the payment of insured deposits and the liquidation of the remaining assets.
